Here is an update from Colton's Toddler 1 classroom the week of Sept 19, 2014
Welcome to the Toddler 1 weekly newsletter. We strive to communicate with our families in many different ways. This includes a weekly bit about what we have been working on at school and, hopefully, some ways we can work together to help our little ones grow.
These past couple of weeks, our kiddos have been spending a lot of time exploring the classroom. We have discovered the dramatic play area, the block area, and the table toys. In dramatic play, we have been having lots of fun trying on the dress up shoes. The dinosaurs have been a big part of our block play, and our music and movement. The table toys have helped us work on our small motor skills.
We have also discovered some interesting sensory activities as well. We have painted with brushes and our fingers. We have also manipulated play dough, and mixed oil and colored water.
Some of the children have noticed some unusual bugs around our playground.
Today we saw a cool grasshopper climbing our window outside, and we watched it go way to the top. We have also observed a beetle crawling on the ground. To add to the interest, we have read several books about bugs like "Hungry Caterpillar", and "Snug as a Bug".
With the addition of Ms Amy to our room, we are learning lots of new sign language too. This helps us communicate with our little ones better. During food serving, they can use signs to tell us more, milk, cracker, and all done. We will continue to work on new words and then using signs and words to communicate.
As always, we welcome any questions or comments about our classroom or routine,
Until next week
