Note from classroom
Happy October everyone! It seems like time is passing quickly. I hope you are all enjoying the weekly updates from the Toddler 1 classroom.
This week our classroom has been focused on cause and effect. Toddlers gain much of their information about the world through trial and error and cause and effect. They explore how things fit together in their environment by experimenting.
We began the week with rolling things. We tried balls and cars and even our bodies. The children saw how things roll off of high surfaces as they rolled the cars over the edge of a large box. Next, we took a lot of balls to the back hallway and kicked and rolled them to knock over other objects.
Another way we explored cause and effect was to paint with different items. We have used brushes, fingers, and even cars. We have hung up these three papers and looked at how they are different.
We are also working on a family bulletin board in the classroom. For those of you who have not done so, we are asking that each child bring in a family picture that we can keep in the room. We use these to relate back to home with the children. We get the kids talking about family members and what they are doing while we are in school. The kids really like looking for their own families, as well as, getting to know other families. Please try to make them recent photos, if you can.
So until next week...
Colie, Saundi, and Amy
